Old part of the hotel is absolutely beautiful, new build part is awful - completely not in theme with the rest. It's worth a visit to examine the detailed woodwork and grand staircase of the original house. The location is very pretty because of the spectacular trees all around, but the hotel could do with a formal front garden, even if just for ten metres or so to divide/hide the parked cars - they detracts from the view. The afternoon teas are quite lovely. The scones are often still warm. The most significant downfall is the poor quality of the crockery, and use of paper napkins which drops this hotel out of the game. The view from the dining room is not great - you see the ugly side of the new build. They should perhaps cover the wall with ivy or plant a tall hedge there. Staff are attentive and polite and nothing is a bother to them. Despite these four downfalls, I still find it a delightful place for tea or a meal.
Amazing hotel. Beautiful building & grounds. Decor impeccable. Stayed in a superior double room - very spacious & the bed & pillows were so comfy. Huge bathroom with bath & a separate large shower. Staff were courteous, helpful & friendly. Didnt eat there but walked past the breakfast buffet and there was a huge choice that looked & smelt good. Was warned it was pricey but I thought it on par with other hotels of this quality. This will be our first choice hotel next time we come up to Aberdeen.
A very nice hotel with nice helpful staff and nice grounds. The room we were in was in the basement. A great room with a big bed. It can be noisy at night and early morning as other guests forget there are other guests and bang doors or do their early morning exercises. It was cold on our visit but the room heated up nicely but there was no air in the room so I found it difficult to breath and opening the window had an opposite effect to staying warm.The breakfast is fantastic with an option of breakfast choices and very helpful waiting staff.
Had a lovely meal. Service was great. Only thing that let it down was the dessert. Husband said that the sponge in the sticky toffee pudding was a little dry, and I couldn't taste the apple in the parfait. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
A beautiful hotel with a relaxing atmosphere. I am disabled; based in a wheelchair and often find accessible rooms are anything but! The rooms in the Norwood are very accessible and everything met my needs. The standard of cleanliness was very high.The staff were very helpful and the food was very good. We will return to this hotel it is in my opinion much better all round than the only 5 star hotel in Aberdeen.
