Over 4 weeks for an appointment is frustrating. The standard of doctor also varies widely at this practice.
I think this is a good practice with some excellent GPs. I've always found the reception staff to be polite, even when there's a huge queue. They never rush people either, and I see them take their time with the older and often impaired patients. When I've needed a non urgent appointment, often I can't get it on the same day. However on the occasions I've needed help quickly e.g. when I had excruciating shingles, I was seen within the hour. Some of the GPs I've seen are incredibly caring, they properly listen to me and have taken whatever action is required. It's a busy practice and that makes life a bit more difficult for everyone but honestly from what I've experienced, it's full of dedicated hardworking caring staff.
Like all practices they are overstretched but when you need the help they are there for you. Doctors and nurses are really caring - receptionists perhaps a little overprotective of appointments but if its urgent they will find one
Same day appointments can be made first thing but only over the phone to give everyone equal chance of getting served in a single queue.
Unless you are in the process of dying, this practice will do nothing to help. To be a patient here you have to plan your illness at least 3 weeks in advance. Total waste of my tax money.
