Summerfield Is a very busy ward, trained staff dont assist or advise new mothers with their new borns, health care support workers are lovely they are the ones doing most of the ward work as were the student nurses, they do assist and teach some aspects of new born care such as bathing and nappy change etc totally different from what they teach you at antenatal classes, only one midwife was helpful with me but it was three days before I saw her, the other midwifes just were not interested, I only saw the other midwives at tablet times and they hardly spoke did not advise you with anything and were very hauty and aloof and didnt do anything for you or help was it really, I am a staff nurse I would not treat my patients this way I couldnt tell you what they were doIng the rest of the time. I did not see any medical staff apart from someone from anaesthetics to apologise for their mistake during my surgery, and saw a breast feeding specialist who didnt do much the only midwife called Sarah who helped me supported me and my baby to go on to formula which was provided by the wardWard was very old and dated but clean and comfortable hospital food was fine as I have always found, but your not allowed out of the ward while admitted, husbands were allowed to stay on ward throughout the day, you dont get a chance to rest as with all hospitals if your in a six bedded dorm there were two women opposite me who did not have babies or gave a toss about others or newborns in the dorm playing loud music all the time even during the night I heard a staff member tell one of the women off in the middle of the night she didnt turn the music off so then the staff member then took the music away,One of the health care support workers gave me a three hour break she took my daughter at night to let me sleep At the end was glad to go home after 38 hours of labour and surgery so I could recover
No halal food.. even some time hard to get veggitarion food as well. .
Staff were very supportive and helpful throughout. Wards are very busy so staff are often stretched, but all interactions were very good and helpful. Special shout out to the labour ward who did a magnificent job of the delivery. :)
I had so many nice midwifes. I cannot be more grateful to labour ward staff and theatre team for helping my daughter get into this world. Bless you all !
Fantastic place! My Son was born here. All the doctors and midwives here are really amazing, very professional and helpful. My wife was quite happy with the overall experience she had. In short, if you are going to have your baby here, just know that you are in safest of the hands with the best possible facilities.
